For six portions, you will need:

For the base:

  • 100g wholemeal flour
  • 50g butter, softened
  • 20g sugar

For the topping:

  • 150g walnuts or hazelnuts
  • 50g or less any unrefined sugar (or 1 generous tbsp honey)
  • 100g cream

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees C.
  2. Prepare the base by kneading all the components together.
  3. Spread it thinly on the base of the cake tin. Make the rim a bit higher, so that it can contain the topping.
  4. Mix the sugar or honey, the nuts and the cream together and load onto the base.
  5. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes at 160 degrees C.
