Why homeschool?
To all parents who did the school run - and are still making their children do the same:
Ram Dass writes in the book “Be Here Now” that he was brought up to be very ambitious, thanks to the Jewish anxiety-ridden-high-achieving tradition.
Sounds familiar?
He ended up in a very successful, yet stressful role. Bouts of anxiety and even some physical ailments showed up early in life.
That should also sound familiar.
Yes, basic literacy and numeracy are necessary. And as the child reaches late teenage, support for getting skilled in a vocation of their choice is also necessary.
What else?
Would you have loved to be left to explore the world in your own way and learn about the things that fascinated you?
Would you have loved to be trusted to make decisions for yourself?
Then why not give these opportunities to our children?
