There is a difference between the nourishment that food contains and what nourishment your body can extract out of it.

Think about the different meals you have during the day. Think about when, where and how.

  • Do you have your meals at approximately the same time every day?
  • Do you sit down at the table to eat every time? Are there meals that you consume quickly, standing around or on the run?
  • Do you spend at least 15 minutes for each meal? Do you tell yourself that it is time to slow down and enjoy the break? Do you let yourself relax and disconnect? Do you tell yourself to chew slowly and enjoy the taste and texture of the food in your mouth?

Make a note for a week for each of these points. Think about how you feel after the meals: in your stomach, in your body, in your head.

Have your meals around the same time everyday.

Sit down for each meal.

Spend at least 15 minutes for each meal. Remind yourself to enjoy the meal. Bring your thoughts back to the sight, smell, taste and texture of the food, of the sound it makes as you eat. Remind yourself to chew slowly. Make sure you give yourself a break from work.

Be grateful for the meal and that you have been able to receive it properly.
