This is a simple, Indian-style cake.

For 6-7 portions, you will need:

  • 200g wholemeal flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 50g sugar
  • 100g butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100g soured cream/yogurt
  • few cardamom pods, freshly ground

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees C
  2. Mix all the ingredients together.
  3. Place in a baking tray and bake for 45 minutes.
  4. Switch the oven off and let the cake be inside for another ten minutes.

Notes

  1. I always recommend all cooked food to be eaten within 6 hours. So, if making for only 3-4 people, make only half as much.
  2. This cake will be magical if eaten fresh, but rather sad when left overnight.
  3. This is great for picnics and school lunches.
