Cardamom Tea Cake
This is a simple, Indian-style cake.
For 6-7 portions, you will need:
- 200g wholemeal flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 50g sugar
- 100g butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 100g soured cream/yogurt
- few cardamom pods, freshly ground
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 160 degrees C
- Mix all the ingredients together.
- Place in a baking tray and bake for 45 minutes.
- Switch the oven off and let the cake be inside for another ten minutes.
Notes
- I always recommend all cooked food to be eaten within 6 hours. So, if making for only 3-4 people, make only half as much.
- This cake will be magical if eaten fresh, but rather sad when left overnight.
- This is great for picnics and school lunches.
