These chocolate brownies are a treat, an indulgence, but when you choose the ingredients carefully and have them during the time of the day when your digestive power is high, they become deeply nourishing.

We choose wholemeal flour instead of white flour, we exclude any artificial flavour enhancers, we use dark sugar that comes with a wide variety of minerals. The nuts provide good fats and minerals. Chocolate gives a lot of pleasure, but can be difficult to digest for most people, so these brownies should be consumed in moderation.

You’ll need:

  • 100g wholemeal flour
  • 100g dark chocolate
  • 100g butter at room temperature
  • 50g roasted hazelnuts or walnuts or blanched, shelled almonds, roughly ground
  • 30g dark brown sugar
  • 1tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6-9 tbsp milk (A2 milk is a better choice)
  • 1tsp Vanilla extract (optional)

Mix all the dry ingredients. Add the softened butter and vanilla extract. Add milk as necessary to create a dough you can mix with a spoon. Spread out on a small greased tray and bake at 160-180 degrees for 15-18 minutes.
