I recommend these laddoos for menstrual support, but they are good for anyone at any stage of life.

Given the very frivolous eating behaviour prevalent these days, most of us are deficient in many essential minerals and fats.

These laddoos are packed with many vital nutrients. They are heavy, so it’s best to have them by lunchtime. They are also great for lunch boxes and taking along on treks.

Pumpkin and hemp seeds; and cinnamon and cardamom all help against menstrual discomfort. The dates give you iron. If you have menstrual discomfort, have these laddoos through your cycle. You should incorporate more pumpkin and hemp seeds in your regular diet: about 1 tablespoon a day. They are good sprinkled on muesli or salad, in bread or roti dough, on quinoa/millet salad or just like that. Make sure you chew them well.

The amounts mentioned in the recipe make a small batch. It’s best to finish them within two to three days. Needless to say, all ingredients should be organic for the laddoos to deliver their promise.

You’ll need:

  • 100g dates, cut into small pieces (soft dates, not the dried ones)
  • 100g pumpkin seeds, freshly roasted and ground
  • 100g freshly roasted hemp seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon or cardamom

Mix all the ingredients together and roll into balls.
